  • Keiki The Parrot That Destroys Things

    Keiki in the cage

As some of you known I have a African Grey Parrot  as a pet. I find that owning Keiki the past 9 years has been a joy. The downside of having a parrot is they like to destroy things meaning chew on things they're not suppose to and fly around the house if the wings aren't clipped getting in all sorts of trouble. I got to keep an eye on Keiki every now and then or I will be searching all over the house for him sometimes seeing he chewed up something like the paint off the cabinets like he does lately hopefully he doesn't get lead poisoning.

The other things he has chewed is the leather on our couch and massage chair too if you see any holes or chipped paint in our house just know Keiki attempted to chew on it, but we caught it before he did more damage. Then sometimes we even see he goes to the same extra place then starts chewing again the only way we know is if we hear any chewing noise or somehow he is quiet then we know he is up to something. The towels we even use to hold him has holes too, but we used them for cleaning the house or just let Keiki chew them.

When Keiki is being bad chewing on things or bothering us to give him food and we don't have time to pay attention to him we put him in the cage. If we don't he will keep coming down off his play set or the stair rail getting into mischief behavior. Then when he isn't destroy things he makes a mess with his food then he isn't really potty train that he poops everywhere. I don't know why Keiki likes to destroys things, but all I know is having a parrot is like having a child.

  • College Graduation-May 2007

I can't believe its been 2 years ago that I graduated from the Floral Design Program at Golden West College it was a 2 year specialization program. I learned a lot about taking care of flowers and the many different types of arrangements I could do. I even experimented with silk flowers the ones that are fake, some can look almost real.  One project I did in the Silk & Permanent's Class was to make a summer purse that I had to use silk flowers. I brought this project home then my Mom thought it was fresh flowers, so she told me to take a picture of it while it was fresh. I told her the flowers were fake and we started laughing. I told the teacher the story and she started laughing too.

It was fun using my creativity to make such beautiful floral arrangements then bring them home after class when my house always had a few beautiful fresh flower arrangements that will last between 2 weeks to a month depending on the flowers used. Now I only have my silk arrangements on display all the time at least I don't have to worry about watering them to keep them alive and pretty. I was happier to be admiring my flower arrangements from school when they were always so colorful and sometimes bright. It made me feel more cheerful knowing I put in a lot of time in getting a good grade on putting effort on every flower arrangement I had to make in class when usually I came home around 10:30 PM at night when my classes were held in the evenings.

Anyway, in one floral design class I had a mid-term competition we had to bring a fresh flower arrangement we made from home following the instructions of the teacher telling us what kind of arrangement we could have. I actually won a 1st Place Ribbon for my Beachy Arrangement except they said I could do without the shells, but if you know me I always like things that are unique and creative when I am artistic. My parents and friends that have known me throughout my life know I am a artistic person that it is just how I decided to study floral design in college for fun when I didn't think being a Floral Designer would be the career path I would go.

  • Life To This Present Day

As many of you know I haven't wrote any blogs lately when I just haven't felt like writing anyway when I find life so stressful and frustrating that I am tired to even want to think what to type on my blogs. I did decided to delete my old postings. I figure I better just start out fresh when I didn't care too much for my past blogs. Besides I am working full-time now for my Dad's civil engineering firm that I find work is one of my top priorities right now. I am still single that I dedicate my time to keeping my life productive while I live at home with my parents. I am hoping my life will be different in the next 4 years when I feel like I need a change in my life.

Then this past year too if you all know my pet Keiki an African Congo Grey Parrot got sick that I been taking care of him. We took him to the veterinary when he was sick and the vet prescribe pain medications along with ointment for his feet. He said that he was eating the wrong diet that is why he was chewing his feet to the point they got sore when his diet was affecting his health internally. Besides the veterinary said he needed to eat a different brand of parrot food that contains vitamins and minerals which we didn't have, so we had to use some liquid parrot vitamin from Petco. Keiki is well now except his diet is parrot food and very plain human food too.

As you can see how would I even have the energy to write any blogs being I am either working or taking care of Keiki. Then after work I just want to relax when I am sometimes busy at work doing reports and other things all day every so often meeting deadlines it can give me enough stress to make me tired. Hopefully now that things are settling down in my life I can write a blog every now and then. This is what has been going on with my life these past couple months.
